True story. I was in Lynchburg Virginia summer of 2018 chatting with someone local. They commented on my WA state license plates and asked if that was where I was from. I replied yes we are from WA. He then asked if I had driven all the way from WA to VA?

Can't tell you how many times I've ordered a bacon cheeseburger "meat and cheese only" and had the waiter say " so you don't want bacon" apparently some people don't consider bacon to be meat!

I had the owner, after going through the staff and store manager, of a nation wide burger chain call the cops on me for trying to pay part of the tab with a 2 dollar bill which everyone knows the US mint has never printed, ever, the 2 cops left shaking their heads.

Here in Washington State the state ferry system loves to hand out change using 2 dollar bills and any other under circulated currency it can get it's hands on just because they can I guess.

My daughter works for Disney. She gets some great questions: "Where is the castle?" "Are the characters here today?" "What princess lives in Cinderella castle?" oh there's so many many more....

I had a bagger at a grocery store ask me what I was going to do with "all this buttermilk?". I told him I was going to make buttermilk pancakes, buttermilk biscuits, etc. He looks at me, dead serious, and tells me "you can't just make buttermilk pancakes, that's a brand name, not a type of pancake.". . . while holding two containers of buttermilk in his hands.

I worked for a city, in the yard waste composting facility. We used 400+ HP, rotating hammer mills to grind tree branch's and leaves into compost. Each mill used 20 to 36 hammers.
Just before the fall busy season, purchasing called, questioning my request for 200 " hammers ".
At $40 a piece, she just couldn't understand. ( Think Government Tool prices )
I learned to be more descriptive and she learned about the compost prosses.

I was walking through a Walmart in motorcycle gear when a woman asked "Oh. Are you on a motorcycle?"
Another motorcycle one ...
I was in a shop buying some stuff a while back, and some guys were looking at a used bike. One asked the other "That's a good price if it's worth it, isn't it?"
Edit:
Oh! Another one -- motorcyclists get asked a lot of weird questions.
I rode my Yamaha FJ1200, a 600 pound motorcycle, from Little Rock to Dallas several years back to a computer programming seminar. One of the participants, a successful computer consultant, asked if I'd brought it with me on the plane.

I once went into a big box store with 3 things on the shopping list; 2 brain buckets and a window fan. Picked out the helmets, then had to go past the door to get to the fans. Security grabbed me, "You can't carry those in store" But I need "YOU CAN'T CARRY THEM!" Snatched them out of my had, gave me a ticket. After I paid for the fan, traded the ticket for helmets, out the door. The question; Did I steal the helmets or did he give them to me?

i'm in ohio at a interstate 80 exit gas station that one or two other roads intersect. someone asks me how to get to new york city and i tell them just stay on route 80 and it takes you into nj super duper close to nyc and decide then which way is best to get into nyc.
"do i go 80 east or west"
same thing has happened in south carolina on route 95[do i go north or south?] with someone going to a town below miami fl [i think my brain would have reset if they said the florida keys]
final one is someone said they didn't want to go thru pennslyvania when i started giving them directions. we were on route 81 around chambersburg pa.
