When we were kids, my brothers would always grab my head when we saw those signs -"see? I stopped a head!" Punny huh? Ah, lovely travel memories...

I was Hiawassee Georgia and saw a sign that read, “Burn headlights when raining”. How do you keep them lit?

More signs of the times

Deer in the US are not the only animals that can read road signs. In New Zealand the cows read, too. You will see signs saying “Cows…Stop”.

Also, along the Nevada highway near Boulder Dam there is a sign that says, “Rattle Snake Wash”. Who would dare to? And why would it be needed?

A few years ago, some smart-Alec in Bend, Oregon put up a sign that was an exact match for a standard highway caution sign that stated “Road Construction Next 200 Miles”.

We chuckle about the braille on ATM's and the like but consider this. In Indiana (at least) people who are 'legally' blind but still partially sighted can buy glasses with telescopic lenses that allow them to pass the state driving eye test and get a driver's license. Now think of your reaction at seeing a driver get out of their car then take off walking with their white cane...

One of the funniest things I ever saw on TV was many years ago. Allen Funt and his crew on Candid Camera set up a road block at the bridge on the only road into Delaware (now I-295 from New Jersey) with a sign saying "DELAWARE CLOSED." The reactions and questions from the lined up motorists were hilarious.

About 5 months ago I was at a stop light at an intersection by a school. There was a cream-colored Corvette first in line, a police patrol car behind the Corvette, and my car was behind the patrol car. The light flipped green, and the Corvette didn't move. About 10 seconds later I heard the patrol car outside speaker click on, and the officer said "It's not going to get any greener!"

But while going that direction, in some parts of the country they put rumble strips all the way across the lane. Kind of annoying if you are paying attention, but likely lifesavers.
The state highway past one of my favorite CGs, repaved with rumble strip center line and next to both shoulders. surprised by the number of people that drive by braille.. [/QUOTE]

DW told her grown niece those were there to let the blind know when they were straying out of their lane. She thought for a minute then asked "how do they know when to stop?" That's what the cross lane strips are for.

From back in 2016...

Sen. Jim Nielsen, R-Gerber, CA, defended daylight saving time on behalf of farmers, whom he said benefit from the later sunset during summer and fall harvests.

“Our crops have gotten accustomed to that. They’ve in fact been bred to deal with that longer harvest season,” he said. “Don’t fix something that’s not broken.”

That's just an old sign. Headlights used to be kerosene or acetylene lanterns.

Yeah slow churches or I feel bad for those "Slow Kids"... that must really upset the parents. And how about that "Blind or hidden Driveway" And how does the deer or wild life know that it has to cross at the sign ? If you have followed the internet you must have seen the post where a person said that the deer crossing sign should be moved to a better location down by a stop sign..... just to close in a cheap shot I think that one was from a blond.
