Watch your step

My mom bless her heart used to tell me to "watch your step" we used to say ok ok. Well 10 minutes ago I went to get something out of our toad. it is dark and dw is steady talking to me. Did not know she had been messing with the controls by door. Well when i took that last step it was a doozy. the bottom 2 steps did not extend. surprise surprise:face palm: just saying watch your step

Like anything electro/mechanical things can happen.

Human induced...wrong switch position

Maint induced...dirty magnet switches

Mechanical failures

Look EVERY time!!

Mom was the ultimate sage, she also said look before you leap.

Listen to Mom...I still "hear" my long gone Mom.

That's a shocker! On our coach the steps always extend when the door is opened, regardless of the position of the step switch inside!

This actually terrifies me. Even looking at coaches on the lot I find myself stepping out before the steps are fully extended. I suppose you get used to pausing and looking but it only takes one mistake. I'm glad to hear that it wasn't more serious.

Strange place for these posts to show up.
Really not funny. Someone could have been seriously injured, and THAT is not funny!

Yes Joe but when standing on the bottom step inside the RV, opening the door and stepping down, the pressure on the top extended step stops the stem from completing its journey. The next step that one takes can be frightening.

Go ahead, ask me how I know.

Always, always look down to see if the steps are extended, always.

Sorry for you accident. We never turn steps off . just a safety factor. Only off when rv put away in storage area or when parked near a side walk at night.
