World's best yard sale?

We had a couple come to work for us at our dealership. He full time and her part time. They wanted to learn all about motorhomes before she retired. He was already retired. They worked there for almost a year. They sold their house and decided to have a yard sale before moving out. He came in on Monday and I asked how the yard sale went. He said great. Actually really great. We made over twenty two thousand dollars. When I went into the office to check out that afternoon, The secretary called me aside. She said that his wife had shown her a deposit slip for twenty two thousand dollars. It was from their yard sale. She asked how that was possible. His wife explained that he had divorced his first wife in his early thirties. He had a good paying job as a engineer. He was single for twenty five years. Whenever he was walking through a store and saw a pistol or rifle and liked it, he would buy it. He had a dozen or so guns. half a dozen high dollar binoculars. Some collector coins, etc. Has anyone ever KNOWN of someone making this kind of money from a yard sale? I am talking about selling several small items, not a car, boat or high dollar item.

I just wish I knew about it before it happened. I imagine there were some really good deals on really neat stuff.

I had a garage sale once. Spent a week prepping for it. We live on the side of a hill in a Cul de sac. Nobody wanted to drive up the hill into the court and be trapped. I watched everyone turn around at the bottom. I sold $60 worth of stuff and had Goodwill pick everything up the next day.

Never got rich but gained some room! LOL

If he had collector type firearms and such you wouldn't believe what those sell for. I'm talking thousands.

If you have guns or coins that sell for thousands, and many do,
you sure don't sell them at a yard sale...........

My ole dad used to say - when he heard something outrageous - "it takes a big hog to weigh a ton".

Just because you would not do this, means nobody would? I did not say he had a coin and a gun and sold both for over ten thousand dollars. He had a dozen or so guns and a lot of coins. Also he had a riding mower and all the best yard equipment. A lot of power tools.

And I NEVER said that YOU said that........

My point was that if he was smart enough to collect expensive items,
he would PROBABLY be smart enough to sell them at collector auctions
or other venues that would bring top dollar from knowledgeable buyers,
not people at a yard sale looking for bargains.

But whatever, I really don't care if the story is true or not. If he made $22K,
good for him, if not, it's just another BS internet story......

Moving on now......

.

This may be funny but true but I'm not sure it's humorous. I hope it's true for seller. Sure hope to do so well as we sell off our stuff to go full time. I'm outta here just the same before somebody puts their eye out.
