You remember your first home computer was a Heathkit , came in three boxes, 1,200 little parts, and you had to assemble everything!

I still remember the part number for the power tube, It was 5UA4G. The TV shop charged me $25.00 for the first one. That was a weeks pay for a teenager. After that I changed my own. cost about $3.50.

I remember watching Speedy Gonzalas--arriba, arriba, andala, andala!!
Before the Speedy G cartoons were pulled for being racist and politically incorrect.

I seem to remember that number was 5U4G. I think that was the rectifier tube. I could be wrong!

I've seen new audio tubes go for over $900; each! Things have really changed and now the best gear has tubes again. Go figure?

5U4G=5 volt filament/U=rectifier/4=# of tube elements (two plates and two cathodes) and the "G" means glass tube. 5U4 took 15 watts just to light it up!
