Never built a TV from a Heathkit, but just about everything else! I opened my own TV & Radio repair shop when I finished HS at 17 years old (1959), and used a Simpson 260 for many years!

You know your old if you remember that you bought your first house for $20,400 and were scared to death that you might not be able to keep up with the payments of $159.14 a month.

My first house was about 1200 sq. ft. and cost me about $17,000. The payments were $55 per month!

Simpson 260, was/is probably the most accurate analog electrical measurement ever made. Only equipment authorized to calibrate nuclear instrumentation on our Submarines.

Old means having the patience to wait till someone else admits they don't know something, leaving the impression your not only old, but wise, as if you knew the answer all along!

Of course the "Simpson 260" much better model than the "Mildred 200".

You know you are old if you remember taking off in a new Cessna 150 from south expressway airport and being able to see stone mountain as soon as you clear the trees. (the air is so dirty now you are lucky to see the ground.)

You give up all your bad habits and still don't feel good.

Clay, the Simpson 260 is basically a high-quality volt/ohm meter, AKA multi-meter. Almost all professional electronics techs used them back in the day!

You buy cheap tools because you know you won't live long enough to wear out quality tools.
