Don't despair over your computer. While I completely agree with your suggestions re organizing a site so as to allow folks to avoid the graphics, rest assured that if your computer is only two years old then it is definately NOT the problem. Download times are a function of your internet connection. I could have the hottest new P4 and it would do nothing to improve the performance of my pathetic modem. So if its download speed you want (and who doesn't) then switch to a high speed connection and stand back.

A couple of years ago, when we were still in the business, we developed a web site for a local campground. When we retired in April 02 we taught him how to do it himself with Front Page. He now uploads pictures almost every day, takes reservations via email and actually gets back to people. http://www.peacerivercampground.com

Peace River Campground has always had a good reputation for customer service. We used to live in Ft.Pierce/PSL/Stuart on the East Coast and everyone we ran into camping knew about Peace River. We never did make it there, but I would like to go there and stop in Arcadia...possibly look up some family history...My grandfather came from Arcadia but we don't know much about that side of the family as we were from his 2nd mariage.

quote:
but really wonder why the other 5 have web sites and don't answer email. To me this is not the way to run a business. I assume they have so much they just don't care.

This is just a suggestion: If your email is not answered, call the campground on their 800# if they have one (its their $$ you will be using) and ask why your email was not answered. I feel certain that the campground owner would like to know if it is a staff issue.

BTW, the below statement is a comment to all campground owners.

The No. 1 item that I like to see on a campground webpage is a "site map" showing the layout of the campground. A map that can be viewed easily with no additional applications needed other than to "click on to enlarge".

The No. 2 item would be the size of the sites.

No. 3 would be several photos of the sites and bath house. I'm not interested in what the office looks like since I'm not staying there. Pictures of the pool and office are helpful to show what the over all campground looks like.

See ya on the road...

Good afternoon. I have been reading the posts regarding e-mail and reservations. I do believe that a business - ANY business - should make the effort to answer people's questions in a timely manner.
Our web page is set up with an e-mail link on each page. The site is checked a minimum of once per day, usually 2-3 times per day. E-mails are answered immediately.
At this time, we do not have a rates page, but that is in the plans for the near future.
