We really cant wait till things warm up a little so we can give It another shot...

From where you are, you should give Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold a shot. It's a county park so you won't see any seasonal campers and all of the sites are end to end rather than side by side. From Bridgewater it's about an hour and a half but we go there almost every other weekend because we like it so much.
