1st ever trip what a nightmare

‎1st ever trip with the new trailer....we went to panther lake NJ with a fried that has been camping for years he was to walk us threw our first ever trip...Well the forecast called for a little snow lol boy did they under estimate the totals...We got around 12" of snow in the end the snow was so heavy it was causing trees to fall.

To have all the trees falling around the camp site was something i will never forget...The sounds of POP-POP-POP and seeing the trees or large limbs falling was crazy but to have my friend Gary and his new wife have a tree fall on to their trailer put this trip in to more of a survival trip..we lost power but still had heat with the gas furnace in our trailer so we all spent the night in out rig keeping warm and dry.

Next morning i had to clear the top of the trailer of all the snow so i could get my slid out back in and also to loose the weight from the top of the trailer so it would not become top heavy boy did that suck.

Well this was a trip i will never forget i sure do hope it gets better from this point forward lol....

Wow, what an inaugural trip!
Seeing that tree on your friend's trailer got me to thinking- Most CGs have a rule that you can only pick up dead and down wood- would removing the tree from the trailer require special permits?

Wow, sorry to hear that. What a way to get to know your camper. Glad to hear nothing hit your camper. Really nice looking rig as well, I hope you get another chance to try it out this season although you're running out of time here in the NorthEast

On another note. We stayed at Panther lake once and it was ok but not somewhere I'd go to again. We have a Springer and they aren't all that pet friendly. We get out just about every other weekend and have tried most of the local spots if you want a review on any of them.

The season still has some life left in it so if you want to try again take a look at Turkey Swamp down in Jackson. We're in Bridgewater and can make in it 1-1/2 hours on a Friday night. If you do give it a try, look into the even numbers on the B road or the even numbers on the E road. They don't have sewer but the do have a dump station. I think you'll like the way all the sites are along the sides of the roads and pull through giving you a very generous lot.

Turkey Swamp is one we do want to try we are pretty close to it as we live in manahawkin NJ just a little east of Long beach island..
Will we do it this year dont think so im thinking time to just call it a year and start fresh come spring lol......

After an opening day like that I can see you just wanting to blow the water out and call it a year. TS closes on November 15th anyway. I love the layout of the place the way they have the sites parallel to the road instead of packing you in perpendicular like most places do. Being a county park they also don't have the seasonal sites you'll be seeing a lot of as you go. They have a really big lake and miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking. Having the Springer dictates that we find places that have a lot of property.

Forget about this weekend and start making plans for next season!

Well, welcome to IRV2 and RV'ing. Alot of us have crazy stories to tell about maiden trips, but I think you have the best one I've ever heard of. This is one memory you can look back and laugh at in the future.

Wow, what a trip. Glad yo made it through unscathed. Just a thought, be careful extending you awning in storms, wind or snow weight could damage your awning.

You will remember and the story will expand through the years---you are off to a good start and just do not know it yet----the eventful trips are the most precious over time---

Nope, we rarely have real snow before January. However, the snows we've gotten before January have occasionally been humdingers.

We're in Southeastern PA and had about 2-3 inches with the Nor'easter-

We heard that October snow has only been recorded 5 times since record keeping. So ... very, very unusual...

NO.. Normal it's about a month early.

News said at least 3 people died.

an 86 year old man either had a tree limb or a power line fall on him.

Another dead due to either a power line or a tree limb (one each)

I did not notice cause of death on the 3rd.

one was as far south as MA.

This storm took a bunch of folks by surprise.

At least one internet server I use is down.

WHAT a first trip!!! You will never forget this one. Now you can look back and laugh. What a story to tell around the campfire next year and EVERY year after. Don't forget to throw in a yetti or two LOL.
