Well I'm back from the trip from Hell -- All in one piece and ready to try again -- Left Spring Hill FL. for Mt. Dora FL. on Thursday, pulling a toad for the first time -- All went well for the first 60-70 miles, then my Brake Buddy started screaming at me that the toad battery was low ? -- Sure was, after I left the switch in "on position " instead of "accessory position " -- Unhooked and DW drove the toad the final 20 miles -- Ok lesson learned -- Pulled into the campground --950 sites packed in like sardines ! - Ok started to hook up and found the electric was the other side of the next door neighbors rig ! -- a good 40 ft away ?? -- OK , bought a extra shore line -- , Now for water -- could not stop a leak from my hose - new washer installed -still leaking - used teflon tape and tightened the heck out of the connection - still leaking - OK , bought a new 25 ft hose and installed it without leak - OK now for the cable hook up - I have 2 -10 ft lengths of cable and I need both to reach, unfortunatly the connector was stripped on one end , OK bought a new connector . OK now hooked up the sewer hose with NO TROUBLE - Hooray ! -- Went inside to find the refrig. was off -- It was working all the way there on the gen. so why wont it work on elec. ? -- because DW forgot to shut it down while I was hooking up the elec. , thats why ! -- Ok, found the fuse box after hunting for it awhile and reset it and now we have a refrig. -- Time to relax after all that, so I sit down to watch TV and guess what - N0 signal !!! -- OK I rip the TV cabinet apart and find a cable has come off the distribution box -OK, reconnect and re-install the cabinet surround and now I got TV - Hooray for me !! -- Starting to rain now -- and rain and RAIN some more --- --- Looking foward to our next adventure

Florida Fred,
Welcome to the "club." Most of us have been there, done that, but maybe not exactly the same - but similar. I remember once on the first trip or two out that I was having a hard time getting down to the waste water connection to hook up so I asked my dear wife to assist me. She asked if she would get wet, and I said no. Ooopps! I had forgotten to close the gray water valve. Lucky for her it was the gray water. She will not get near that connection any more.
Thanks for sharing with us. It's nice to know we are not alone.

At least you're still married! Our first several trips were spent with me screaming out the window to my DW, "If you can't see my mirrors, I can't see you"!You would think a woman would be used to looking in the mirror! The first few trips in an RV are not for those whose marriage is on shaky ground.

One question please...when did it become necessary to turn the refer off before hooking to shore power?

Fred -
Chalk it up to a little thing called experience! If something doesn't pop up, fit in, work out....then I'm sitting there wondering the whole time when the axe is going to fall.....because I know it will! Just about the time we get the "bugs" worked out, I open the fridge door after towing and a soda can comes flying out - hits the floor and spews all over the place!!! Ah.........I can relax now!

x 3, I've never run the generator going down the road. I just leave the fridge on auto.
What a wacky trip. Sure glad I never have those kinds of issues, uh-huh, uh-huh.

So true Jim,
I would yell I can't see you on the passenger mirriors. She would always try to direct me from the side of the truck that had mirriors that said things are smaller than they appear.

Florida Fred,
Like most everyone else, I've had most of these things happen to us (but not usually all at once)- sounds like bad luck. The park you talked about reminds me of another place called Lake Isabella RV Park-outside Bakersfield. You don't want to go there, believe me.
