Our original plans were to take us to Glens Falls, NY this weekend to see the Adirondack Balloon Festival. The coach is packed and the kids were excited to skip a day of school and enjoy a long weekend.

Calling for showers & thunder storms for most of Friday & Saturday we have decided not head North. After reading some info, the balloons will not even come out of the trailer if there is rain. No need to drive 6 hours to dry camp in an airport field for the weekend.

Having spent the past two weekends at home and ready to GO somewhere, we chose to head to New Market, VA and spend the weekend at the Endless Caverns Campground (I think they are now a Nascar park.) With only showers in the forecast and trips planned to see the caverns, etc it should turn out to be a better trip.

Boo indeed! Heading to Syracuse tomorrow, hoping rain is just a couple of showers.

Fingers crossed!

Caverns are always a good way to spend a rainy day!

You can also visit VMI and the New Market Battlefield State Park.

I was their labor day. Let me know what you think. I loved the hills.

Steve -

Very nice park. It was not too busy this past weekend, maybe around 30 campers. The place is huge...

Nice rig. Did you get a chance to go in the caverns? The people that run the place are real nice. I will go back for a short weekend for sure. I only live 1 hour away.

Thank you. Yes we visited the caverns. We were the first tour out and the only people on the tour.

We also hit the corn maze at the I-81 exit too...

I've never paid extra for the toad at campgrounds, but do for toll roads.

Thanks for posting about Endless Caverns. Right on the way to Florida we are thinking of stopping for a couple of days. Average daytime high for New Market looks like low or middle sixties for late Oct/early Nov so it should be comfortable. The campground looks nice and so close to Rt81 it won't take us off our route at all.
