Hi, The wife and I had a nice relaxing long weekend,we left Thurs. morn.around 5am, stopped for breakfast at Cracker Barrel on I 81 exit 5 in NY. Arrived in Herkimer 'bout noon, went on the Lil Diamond Erie Canal Cruise, very enjoyable and informative,(well worth it).

Checked in at KOA,staff was friendly,(some KOA's they were more friendly), had a river front site, very relaxing to listen to the water flowing by,went fly fishing, caught some trout,I catch and release.

Friday morn. drove to Cooperstown, to Baseball hall of fame,PHILLIES Fans, about an hour south on rt.28 (need more than one day there).
Made dinner and sat around the kampfire and had a few adult beverages and some jello shots, slept good fri. nite(I sleep good every nite while camping).

Sat. morn. went to the MINES, brought our own hammers and chisels, you can use theirs for a refundable deposit, you just pick a spot and start cracking rocks, they give you a 7 min. video on what to do and what you are looking for, between the two of us we found some small ones,(they can sit on a pencil eraser).it was fun

Cooked dinner and went over to the ICE CREAM social at the pavilion, couldn't beat it a DOLLAR for a giant scoop and all the toppings you wanted. No fire it was raining, still had a few beverages, inside and played cards 500 RUMMY.

Very enjoyable trip. Rick & Robin

Thank you for sharing! Back in 2005 we attended the NY Samboree at the Fairgrounds. It was also the location where our first DirecTV manual dish was installed and we started watching satellite TV.
