Just returned from Smokey Mountain NP

Our 11 year granddaughter asked for a trip with us as a Christmas gift, so we took her to Riverbend campground for a week. The campground was great and we all had a great time. We saw 4 bears in the park, 2 were asleep in a tree right beside the road.

Stayed at that campground when I was about 10 years old (early 70s) and I still remember the river flowing right by our site and cracking rocks looking for the diamonds.

It was all she asked for last Christmas - kind of makes it impossible to say no, not that we would. She is the oldest, with 2 sisters and the other two of our daughters have girl and boy each. Lots of great places to take them.

I hope to spend a night or two in that area either this fall or next spring when I commute to/from S.C. for the winter.. Drove through the mountains this spring and it is beautiful. May have to tranqualize the wife though
