Cindy and I just got back from eight days of camping at Loud Thunder Park in Andalusia, Illinois. It is a county park and very nice. The lake is 167 acres (two lane ramp) and there is a multi lane ramp that gives access to the Mississipppi river. $15.00 a night. They had a Horse barrel racing show last Monday. Quiet place, good water.

On the places to stay.... When in South Carolina's Upstate area last winter I had some folks recommend a park to me.. We stay in Oconee county most of the winter.. My membership is good in Fair Play (3 miles from the Georgia border, just off I-85, Take exit 2 or 4 and head toward the other one) for two weeks out of 3.. The 3rd week we spent on a peninsula in lake Keowee (place of mulberries) called South Cove Park. An Oconee county park 12/night Water and either 30/50 amps.. The Peninsula is a "Finger" size thing, depending on the site you are either on the water or you can see water out of nearly all windows.. (no more than 20 yards from the shore) Very nice park.

Once they went to summer rates (25 for residents, 30 for me) we went to a nearby COE park. in Pickens county 17 miles differnece.
