Mojave Desert near Gold Butte NV

I recently purchased an older motorhome (1986 Winnebago Itasca Sunflyer). I got lucky as every system works perfectly. New tires and an Onan 4K with only 200 hours.

This past week I took it on a longer test drive, boondock camping in a remote part of the desert.



Gold Butte is an area currently under consideration for National Monument status. There are hundreds of ancient petroglyphs in the area.

The Mojave always gives up the best sunsets, my nightly entertainment.







The dogs and I had a great time. The Winnebago was flawlessly in every aspect. I am a happy camper.

To access this area you must exit I-15 at the Bunkerville/Riverside exit, just west of Mesquite, and go south on the Gold Butte road. The road is paved, just barely, for the first 20 miles or so. I lost a hubcap on the way out and found it waiting for me when I traveled back home. There is much history to be discovered there. A perfect time to visit the desert with night temps only dipping into the 50's and daytime into the low 80's. Perfection.
