Am staying week here & enjoying being at foot of Rockies w/o having to drive motorhome into RMNP. Campground very nice & convenient; upgrade to spot with Big Thompson River running behind...definitely worth a little more.

We were there last fall with the river running right behind the coach. OK, but dusty every day. They could spend a few thousand and put a few inches of gravel thgough the park and make it much nicer. We got run out by the fire just over the hill by the lake. Take the dirt road to the visitors center in RMNP if you get a chance, narrow and one way but interesting an little traffic.

Hey Doc, thanks for the advice. Plan to drive the Falls Road gravel side tomorrow as part of a day-long RT to Grand Lake. BTW, not dusty here at Riverview now; just really nice by Big Thompson River which is gushing right along very high & rapidly. Guess the massive snow & rain past months helped w/that.

Wish we were there with your right now! Love that area. We elk hunted on the other side of RMNP north of Grand Lake and Granby area a few years ago. Walden area if you get that far up. Beetle kill has decimated the forests there, but it is still beautiful along the Colorado river.

Thoroughly enjoyed the drive along Old Falls River Rd! Chasm Falls was especially spectacular due to so much melting snow. And there is a week long regatta going on at Grand Lake, so watching the action on the lake from high above while lunching on porch of Grand Lake Lodge was a true treat. After returning to Estes Park, had time to visit Cheley Camps near St. Mary's Lake where I spent 3 summers growing up. Was a wonderful day!
