We are, and have been, traveling somewhere in the south, (for 3-4 months every winter for the past 12 years), without ever making a plan, (or a reservation).

I'm one that likes to know that I do indeed, have a spot to stay - so I do make reservations. Our 4 month trip this summer - have reservations made for 95% of it already. Yes, things may change and I'll need to modify some, but I know we will be able to get into some of the more popular RV places. And - being 45 feet and towing a Dodge Ram Crew Cab - we don't fit in all the national/state parks. To each their own!

Our last stop was at Cochise Campground in Benson as the recommended state park was full.

This campground is first class and on the way back home we will probably stay there again and explore the nearby caverns.

I guess we are 'anal' in that we like to know where we will stop and then know what our alternatives are.

We are now in Yuma and will stay until the end of February.

Thanks for all the help/advice getting us here

We have always stayed at Cochise as an overnighter which means they put us in the pull-through spaces near the office. One of these days I would like to stay a few days and explore the area. Hard to believe they're at 4200'.
