Hi all, we are doing our first RV trip in a few weeks starting where we pick up the rig in Wildwood, Florida and making our way to home in Sacramento. We would like to go to the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham so we will target our stay somewhere in that region for our first night on the road. We were thinking about Gadsden at either the Noccalula Falls or River Country Campground. Does anyone have other suggestions for places to stay or input on these two places?
I did read the reviews and both seem OK but I am thinking there may be better spots or good advice on these two.

Oak Mountain State Park is great.

In Gadsden I recommend River Country, Located in the fork of two rivers. Large campground with walking path along the rivers. Beautiful sunsets.
Birmingham if passing through we stay at the ball park in Hover.
Oak Mountain is a very nice campground beautiful trees, only problem the compute to town. Campground is approx 5 miles from the entrance to the park.
I think you would be happy at any one of the 4.

Upon looking further at the map it wouldn't make a lot of sense to go to Gadsden since we are coming from the south and going to Birmingham. So how about advice between the above mentioned Oak Mountain and Wind Creek State Park?

Lake side landing is 27 miles east of Barber Motorsport. We stay there when going west. Hwy 231 south of I-20 call them possibly you could stay there.

We live in Birmingham - Oak MOuntain is nice as is Tannehill State Park. We liked Wind Creek but it is outside the 60 mile radius. About 1 1/2 hours south of Birmingham. Haven't stayed at Nocalula but heard it is beautiful.

Tasnnehil State Park is nice. They have a lot to see in the park. we stayed there in late August.

Thanks for the tip on Tannehill, hadn't ever heard of it but it does look great. I can see some nice photo opportunities and good exploring from the photos people have posted online. Even if we don't stay there I would like to check it out before we move on down the road to the west. Oak Mountain is on the way into town from our Florida trek so that is high on our list of consideration if we are making good time. Based on our time of departure from Florida and route at this point I think we will end up at Wind Creek and then head north to Birmingham after a little morning hike to keep healthy and see the sights.

Sounds like a good plan. Would recommend the upper loop at Wind Creek. Only part of the sites are full hook up but we felt the lower loop was WAY too crowded and packed in.

Barber is a fantastic visit. Start at the top and work your way down. There is also a new Bass Pro Shop at the exit for the museum and if the significant other would rather shop, there is an outlet all across the interstate. Give yourself plenty of time, you can lose half a day in the blink of an eye.

I wanted to follow up on our trip and thank everyone for the advice. We ended up staying at Wind Creek. It was VERY quiet, maybe 20 - 30 people camping in the whole park.
Barber was spectacular! My wife is a motorcycle enthusiast and went crazy with the camera taking photos (see our blog). The GPS took us there via a backroad called Bailey Rd. Luckily there was no one else driving on this little country passage or we would have been in for some interesting maneuvering but with the good luck we had it was a pretty cool detour for some nice views of true Alabama country estates.
