If any of you fellow travelers might find your way into the area of Bedford, VA, you might find this info helpful:

At the intersection of US Rt. 460 and VA. Rt. 122 you will find the Bedford Area Visitor's Center, sitting just in front of the entrance to the National D-Day Memorial. The visitor center is a beautiful and informative place to stop (my wife and I volunteer there two Sunday's per month) and we have three full hook-up RV sites. The sites can be used for $25 per night (no reservations, first-come, first-served) but they are rarely used. You can use the dump station for $5.00.

So, if you want to visit the fabulous and inspiring National D-Day Memorial and need an overnight site, stop in at the visitor center. There is also much else to see in this area.

I second the little gem, stayed there last year. Nice view of the mountains, too. Loved the small town friendly folks. D-Day Museum was thoughtfully done, made you appreciate the brave soldiers who fought at Normandy Beach and the sacrifice of so many of Bedford's own sons.

Best Regards!
