Looking for a beautiful rv spot near the Reno Sparks convention center for next July. I Will be going back and forth to the convention center a few times a day.

I would not describe any of the rv parks in the Reno/Sparks area as beautiful. As I write this we are staying at the Grand Sierra RV "resort". It is far from a resort but adequate. You can check rvparkreviews.com for the reviews of parks in the Reno/Sparks area. We used to live in Sparks so are familiar with most of them. Rivers Edge in Sparks in right under the flight path of the Reno airport, Reno RV park is very small & tight, right downtown, so is Keystone. Boomtown KOA, Terrible's Gold Ranch (Verdi) & Bordertown are far out of town. You will need to check to see if your convention is at the same time as any of the high volume visitor events, like Hot August Nights. The rv parks raise their rates to very high levels at that time and are booked up solid. Assuming that your convention is at the center on South Virginia Street, there is a gated rv park right across the street from the Peppermill that gets decent reviews. That's just up the street from the convention center.

After staying in Reno off and on for many years I cannot say that there is any rv park worth the money. We finally just switched to dry camping in the parking lot of the Atlantis. A few years ago Reno thought it was a good idea to enforce the no camping rule for casino parking lots so we stopped going to Reno all together. We finally stopped in again this summer and Reno has turned into such a pit I can't see why anyone would go there.

We stayed at Rivers Edge, too much asphalt and too little green for our tastes but we were treated very well, As mentioned, it is under the incoming flight path for the airport but there were no flights after 9 pm while we were there.
It was my first time there and I was disappointed. DW loves the downtown casinos but I found them unexciting, I am not a gambler. I did enjoy Harrah's museum but that is about all, I have no desire to go back

This place is 18 miles outside Reno and has no hook-ups, but it definitely qualifies as pretty. Washoe State Park right off the 395. We really enjoyed our stay there last year and are planning to go back this year. It may not be close enough for your purpose, but it's another option for you anyway. If you want to see pics I have them here:

reno rv park

Thank you for the info. on Reno. I have never heard any good reports about Reno but we have to go to the event at the convention center there. We will check out the place across the street from the Peppermill. I don't suppose there are even any campgrounds nearby? Wherever we land it won't be too bad, we won't be spending too much time in the rv park anyway, mostly just to sleep.

Here's a link to the RV park across from the Peppermill. This is fairly close to the convention center.
