I never ever saw any state owned Adirondack park with hookups. Reserve America is the only way to reserve a campsite. They are usually correct about what will fit. Don't EVER cut a tree in any state run Adirondack park. Number one others will turn you in. NY is very conservation minded. The Adirondack park is part of our constitution. It's very restrictive and really gets the long time residents up in arms. It's like they lost ownership of their property. So don't cut anything out of your way. There are a few private parks though I have to admit in all my years I never hooked up in the Adirondacks so can't say too much.

I would say, yes, you can trust that, however, remember that these are state campgrounds that have been around for a very long time. The sites were most likely made when RV's didn't have all of the extra slides, etc. so you may encounter places where you can back in a 40 foot site but may not have enough room to extend all of your slides, window awnings, patio awning, etc.

Where are you from in the adirondacks? As I said my wife grew up in Ticonderoga. We will be working just east of you in Wilmington at the LakePlacid KOA. We plan on leaving Petal, Mississippi around the 1st of April, meeting our son and grandson near Lake City Fl. then north bound on 95 to 17-66 to 81. Then a week or so in Poughkeepsie, week in Ticonderoga then Lake Placid KOA. If you travels cross ours enroute to the ADK's let us know. Safe travels!

I am not from the Adirondack area but from Rochester, NY. I have spent many summers in the Adirondacks, playing working and traveling. I haven't lived in NY since 1993, moved to Hollywood, CA for 16 years and I am now a resident of Anchorage, AK but spend most of my time in the lower 48. We travel to Alaska about every 2 years and will be going back there in the spring of 2012 after spending the winter in Florida once again. This coming summer, we will be Workamping at a 600 acre private estate on Rainbow Lake for the Tebbutt family. Not sure if we will be going through Lake Placid on our way to Rainbow Lake as our travel time will be quick leaving from FL on April 28th and Arriving in Rainbow Lake on May 1st.
However, we will be sure to stop by on one of our shopping trips into Lake Placid to say hi.
Have a great summer in the Adirondacks and safe travels.

Amen to the KOA at White Face. The AuSable River is awesome between White Face and back toward Lake Placid.
