Most RV parks on the Alabama/Mississippi Gulf Coast we have researched seem oriented primarily to short term vacationing RVers, and not to "over the winter" snowbirds. While enroute back to Iowa next month, we plan to visit this area in search of parks who cater to snowbirds, with decent full hookup sites, planned activites, entertainment, etc.
Any suggestions from those who know the area and have wintered in this region would sure be appreciated.
Thanx.....Dick

Hey you two, I hope someone answers you. Does age dictate planned activities? When you get back to Iowa, I am very near to Prairie Meadows and can show you some planned activities.

Hi folks! I have no personal experience in those areas, however, on the escapees website there are many full-timers that stay in those areas all winter.

Try Anchors Aweigh and Bella Terra RV Resort in Foley (Gulf Shores) and Emerald Beach RV Park in Navarre, FL. All have excellent sites and hook ups.

We just spent three days at Johnnys RV Resort - Near Gulf Shores, Alabama and recommend it as one of the nicer RV parks we have stopped at. Spoke to several snow birds who are very happy there and as a we were signing in a lady was extending her stay another month.

Glad to be of assistance. Now return the favor. We are currently in Titusville awaiting the shuttle on 4/5. Need an overnight stop on the way to Gaffney, S.C. after that. What do you recommend?

Don't travel that way often, but will recommend Jekkyl Island State Park near Brunswick GA, where you'll meet some gigantic woodpeckers who love to peck at your rear view mirrors...they're a riot

We have spent parts of the last 2 winters at Coastal Haven RV in Fairhope, AL. Pros are: small park, extremely clean and neat, concrete pads and patios, away from noise and traffic, 4 miles from new Walmart, really nice people (most come for the winter), close to Gulf Shores and Mobile, reasonably priced, extremely clean bathrooms and laundry room, Fairhope is a darling little artsy town. The cons: Small clubhouse with not lots of organized activities, 30 miles to Gulf Shores if you are a beach person, more restaurants in Gulf Shores...can't think of any others.
The manager does not even live on site...doesn't need to. Last winter one of the "residents" began organizing a mothly breakfast and several dinners. She does a great job. The clubhouse is open for almost any activity someone might want to spearhead. We plan to get a quilting group going next year.

There is an Escapee park about 8 miles away. A lot of our "residents" are Escapees but really like our park better and in fact CH may be cheaper... not that there is anything wrong with Rainbow Plantation, it is a nice park.
