If you get an opportunity ask the natives why mosquitoes don't bother them. When I asked all I got was a smile.

We depart next Tuesday (the 27th) from olde Cape Cod, will make Dawson Creek by 6/21. Plan on stopping at Banff, Jasper, doing the ice highway, TOW, Chicken, Denali, Kenai, Homer, Vancouver, Redmond, OR for the rally, Glacier and a slow trip back.

Hi,

Sounds like you have your trip all planned out however I would make on deletion and that is take chicken and the top of the world highway off your list with the rv. What I would do if I ever go back to Ak is leave RV in Tok and take toad to chicken however there is really nothing to see in Chicken plus fuel there is over $5.00 a gallon. The road itself is terrible whether it is raining or not.

Enjoy your trip and by all means take your time as there is a lot to see and do like fishing for salmon and halibut.

It isn't available in Fairbanks and I don't think in Alaska at all but I'm not sure of that.

FYI:
As far as cell service Verizon just came into the Fairbanks area. We were up there last Aug. and the voice and data reception were good.

Yes Sirius is good all the way and in Alaska. BUT the Sat. is low on the horizon and is easily blocked by things on the RV's roof on natural objects like trees or mountains.

Data is OK in Alaska but in Canada the price will make you listen to the breeze from the trees or the river running by.

We are here in Tox for 3 nites........going to visit the Wrangell St. Elias NP tomorrow......been to Chicken/Top of the world and I agree ,go if you have never been, but to go back a second time would not make my heart condition any better.....
Going on to Fairbanks Monday....was planning on staying a couple of weeks in the area, ( depends if the water pipes at Eielson thaw out by than).....
Going to make the trip to the Arctic circle, and than up to Prudoe bay.....this is our 4th trip up to Alaska and we have covered just about all we would like to see....once by cruise ship and twice by coach. I do plan to try and visit Eagle, and Tanana to see if we can meet the people who are in those reality shows representing Alaskans...

I have one suggestion.......make sure you have windshield covers for your toad......bad bad bad very bad road.....I will be getting a new windshield for the motorhome but won't get one till we get home....fully covered by insurance.....thank god.
Be prepared for the worst....it will be bad if your coming up to the Alcan entry Alaska hwy.
