Allegeny Mountain Resort - Plato, NY

We bought a Membership at this campground in May of 2013. Bought into the sales pitch that we would always have a place to camp at basically the cost of electric for years in the future. We like the location and although the sites didn't have Sewer hookups we felt it would be worth it.
We tried to make arrangements several times since then but in all but 2 times were told that they didn't have a spot to accommodate us. The one time last year they let us stay we were put into a site that barely fit our rig and while clearing the site of trash left by previous campers the Resort's personnel just threw the trash into the neighboring woods making no attempt to properly dispose of it.
We have tried numerous times to contact the owners but as of this time we have never received any communications from them or others regarding our complaints.
We just received our bill for annual maintenance fee's and if we don't pay this we won't be allowed into the facility regardless.
Has anyone else had problems such as we have experienced from this resort or others and is there anything we can do to get some of our money back?

I hope you didn't pay more the three dollars for that membership. Not to have availability is bad but then not to have sites that your rig would fit into is poor park management.

As stated post this in the park reviews section.

We paid several thousand for the membership. It's one where you can stay 2 weeks and then you must move on for at least 2 weeks before coming back. We are still working but we liked the lake, etc at the resort so like idiots we bought in. We were stupid to believe the sales pitch.
To be totally ignored by the owners is frustrating.
Believe we will try to contact the BBB or others to see if they can help.

If you check the local BBB you get complaints of all the campsites being booked up for the whole summer but told in their presentation to just call on a Wed. and we always have sites open...

Have seen some sites listed for sale....on the secondary market. Common story. Over sell the memberships, so what if you have unhappy campers.

After reading your sad story all I can say it is time to contact an attorney.
They have failed to comply with their contract with you. Your only recourse is to file suit against them for your fees and additional payment for your aggravation.
Read the fine print then bring the contract to your lawyer. Most attorneys will review your situation for free and tell you if you have a case...sue for the refund and all your legal fees.

Don't feel bad about reporting them and their sales methods to the State Attorney General's office either.
