The OP's 45-foot coach is waaaaaay too big for the Telluride campground, plus it doesn't have any hookups, much less full hookups.

We will get to drive 550 in the pickup before we drive the coach over it.

This year we are using 145 instead of 550 due to our change in itinerary.

Thanks very much for the feedback guys, I appreciate it.

Have you driven 145 before? I think it's every bit as beautiful as 550, and nowhere near as harrowing.

You also have variable terrain--the twisty part down by the river, up over Lizard Head Pass, and then back down to by the river, and then Dallas Divide by Ridgway. I always point out that Dallas Divide is where Ralph Lauren has his ranch, and I trust him on whether something is pretty, and it's not like he was limited by his budget in his selection.

But I do think it's a little more spectacular going west. There are a few pullouts that you might use, to get the view back behind you, or you could drive it from Montrose. You should probably do that anyway if you have time and if you've never been to Telluride.

Oatmeal, nope this will be our first trip through this region of Colorado.

Quite by accident, we find our schedule taking us to the Cortez area. The new schedule also gives us a bit more time in Durango.

I'm actually looking forward to spending some time in the Mesa Verde/Shiprock/Four Corners area. This puts us in a location where it's a coin toss time and mileage either way, and when the difference is so minimal we will take the less technical route.

Once in Ouray, we've got 7 nights there to explore and see what the area has to offer.

We haven't firmed up any plans for Breckinridge yet, but are planning a leisurely 2 day drive from Ouray to Breck via 133. There is a mill by a waterfall I want to locate.

When we get further towards July, we will have a better idea if Breckinridge is going to work out.

Our usual summer trips have averaged 30-35 days out, and 6000-6500 miles typically. 2-3 days parked is about the maximum up until now.

I'm really looking forward to cutting those numbers in half over the same time. I'm hoping it will prove to be less time behind the wheel, and more time with the family.

-Matt

We were headed to Colorado in June and wanted tiger run, but the wait list pushed us to search for something else. We ended up finding winding river resort north of winter park and 1.5 miles from RMNP. Don't know if that fits your wants, but it's an alternative.

Thanks to all, we have finally gotten into Tiger Run.

As of now, here is what we have:

Durango (Alpen Rose) 6 nights
Mancos (Mesa Verde RV Resort) 4 nights
Ouray (Ouray RV Park & Cabins) 6 nights
Salida (Four Seasons RV Resort) 2 nights
Breckinridge (Tiger Run) 6 nights
Colorado Springs (Garden Of The Gods RV Resort) 4 nights

The only locations I'm iffy about are in Salida and Colorado Springs. Both CGs have their share of negative reviews, but seem to be the best options in the area.

I'd prefer to rough it at Mueller SP, but their dump station is out of service.

I'm really looking forward to this trip as we don't plan to drive like we usually do. Typically we drive 6000-6500 miles in this same period of time. Right now, our itinerary is just a tad over 2500 miles.

Thanks again guys,

-Matt

We stay at GOG in CS. I see no reason to give it negative reviews.
