Anastasia SP in St Augustine: not for big rigs
We just got back from Anastasia from a quick weekend getaway. Found out the hard way this place is not Big Rig friendly. Although the spot we reserved was designated for a 40 max RV, it was a real bear to get my Discovery backed in. I was scraping bushes and branches the whole time. Managed.to.get.in.unscathed, but leaving today I clipped a fence on my campsite and crumpled one of my cargo doors. It could have been much worse and of course it was my fault. My wife was outside spotting for me and there were just too many things to look at.
After I got out of the spot I had to navigate the loop. Too much brush on each side and all sorts of low hanging branches.
If you're familiar with Anastasia we.were in Shark Eye loop, site 40.
We won't be coming back. Just too tough to get around. Its a shame because we've been camping there for the last 25 years with tents, pop UPS, travel trailers and smaller motor homes. Wonderful place.
