Anchor Down Campground on Douglas Lake, Dandridge, TN
We are traveling home from Anchor Down on Douglas Lake..this was our third time at the campground and every time we leave, my husband and I always feel like we got what we paid for and more! From beautiful views overlooking the lake to 5 star amenities and 5 star staff members, this place will never disappoint! The owner can be found anytime during the day and even night along with others in the staff. He is very friendly and understands what campers are looking for. The bath houses are incredible with each one having its own shower sink and toilet. They are very roomy and always clean! The swimming pool incredible with amazing views, fun slide (which our 7yr old wears out) and a small pool for the little ones. The swimming area has been marked off in the lake with a beautiful beach area, and two huge inflatables to use and play in the lake which are extremely fun and entertaining to watch others. The docks are built for ease of use for boats and jet skis! Overall, this place never disappoints our family and we are always excited to plan our next get away! We were there for one our stays and a terrible storm came through. Several campers were damaged from their awnings being out in the wind, and the owner was out assisting people through the night and the next day! It's not often you see people so willing to help! If you want a good time, more bang for your buck, and a clean and incredible great time, you WILL want to check this place out!!

I agree. Our first time was last month and we plan to go back. It sets the bar high for RV parks. Its not cheap but you get what you pay for and more. Some RV park owners should visit to see how it should be done.

It is a nice RV park. We would go frequently if we lived closer.

We went there for a rally this spring and I could not agree with you more. If I didn't live about 60 miles away on another TVA lake I would be going there on a regular basis.

Awesome! best campground anywhere
If you haven't been to their website to look you are missing something spectacular. I was there also the day if "THE STORM" It was like a tornado. My awning was in because I saw it coming. And the owner was on a ladder with his battery drill helping everyone. He is one of the best people to have as a business owner that deals with people. I had a blowout and RV damage and he let me use jack stands to rehabilitate my RV. He will just drop by to ask how ya doin.
Everything is better than I have seen at any RV park by far!
From the stamped concrete to porcelain tile individual bathroom/shower room that are family friendly to staff that helps any way that you van imagine
I have been there 19 days total this year and have about 30 days reserved next year. Very family oriented and pet friendly

Sorry, just didn't like it. Too much hardscape and not enough green. The views are nice but the immediate surroundings didn't appeal to me. Not sure how someone can spend a fortune on a new campground and not make sure sites are level.

Anchor Down is a very nice CG. And it has its' place as a place to stay. For those not familiar with the area, consider first deciding what you want to do for entertainment. Examples might be:
1. lake activities, boating, fishing, swimming, etc.
2. GSMNP and the activities contained inside the park
3. shows
4. rides and attractions along the parkway
5. shopping in Gatlinburg or Tanger Mall
6. etc.
Once entertainment is identified, choose a CG close to where the entertainment is located. The Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area has a very limited road structure. Traffic can be a burden. Traffic is worse than Branson. Branson has built a couple of "beltway" roads and that does help. Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have no such "beltway" roads. If one is going to participate in the above mentioned #1, Anchor Down is a great choice for a CG. However, for the other entertainment choices one will be better off choosing a CG close to or on the Parkway.
At the other end of the area, CGs in the GSMNP are also very good choices as long as one is going to focus on activities inside or near the park.

Yes it is a nice place but don't have a heart attach and cancel your reservation 2 and 1/2 in advance because they will still charge you 25%, after staying there many times not sure we will go back.
