I YouTuber from Fairbanks does a weekly "RVers parked / camping at WalMart" video. During prime summer months you will see 20-40 rigs parked. He even takes note of ones that have been parked there for weeks on end.

I think a simple sign that says: No more than a 12 or 18 hour stay would do wonders to keep the flow of RVers moving. Say you arrived at 6pm, went in to pick up a few supplies, made dinner....watch a movie, catch some shut eye and be out of there by 8 or 9 the next morning. Don't open your slides, don't or un-hook your trailer...

We fly every other year to Anchorage to visit close relatives and sight see. Many people think "campers' at Fred Myer and Wal-Mart are in old broke down RVs. Not the case when we were there each visit.

Saw the same high end (big bucks) coaches for weeks on end sitting there with the generator running.

It is true, for reasons unknown to me, as jrwalkerpa1 states there are no decent places to camp in the Anchorage area.

Bashing Wal-Mart and other big box stores is not the answer nor is bashing the people who "camp" there. Shouting louder or being vicious is not the solution!

This may qualify as the worst thread on IRV2, or at least in the top five.

I just think the point is being missed here: To many RVers think of camp Wally World as a destination or as a home base. All it should be is a extended parking spot to "REST". 4, 8, 12 hours and on your way to your next destination or resting spot.

The few times I have Wally Docked was after midnight, usually 1 or 2am...Crawled into the trailer, slept till sunrise, take a piss, choke down a bowl of cereal and be on our way. To me it's more of a safety break. Sometimes I use rest areas...

Where in the world could I find a campground off the freeway, down a country road and have the campground I have never been to meet me at the gate to direct me to a "sleeping spot" and charge me $40.

Lets not over extend our welcome...keep it short term...be on your way.
