Angel Fire NM
The high today is supposed to be 98 degrees here today and we are about to enter into the hottest part of the year (100+ days here in DFW).
We are thinking of heading to the mountains of New Mexico and had heard of a new resort in Angel Fire, can anyone give us a heads up on the Angel Fire RV Resort and the AF area.
We've never been to Angel Fire but from looking at the weather it is much cooler than Ruidoso where we normally go so we thought we might check it out.
We'd be coming in from Fort Worth so we would go up to Amarillo from here and then there are several options going north and west in some combination. Which are good and/or which should we avoid?
Angel Fire Luxury RV Resort - New Mexico on Enchanted Circle
Thanks

We are in Houston and making our plans to go there as well to get out of the heat. So looking forward to the answers as well.

At $60/day and $1000/month it would be way out of our league!!
There are other places in that area if you just want to get cool. It's a beautiful area.
Eagle Nest and Red River is more low-key.

I'm thinking about going to red river first week of August for a few days for mini vacation and to celebrate my gf birthday. I've been twice 1 winter/1 summer. I love it there, plan on taking the new cyclone. Been debating route to take, we live in Austin. Anxious to see the responses on here

I have been watching the development of that resort. Not sure it is finished, if you can believe their website, looks very nice. I go up that way on a regular basis and i would go I-40 out of Amarillo to 84 west of Santa Rosa, up 84 to I-27, north to 58, hits 64 in Cimarron, west to Angel Fire. While a little further than going through Mora, and even though you will go through some twists and turns, there are less that way and I have always found I could make better time.

There are several choices around the enchanted circle, which is the circular route around the mountain. Encompasses several small towns around there. All have some great views and scenery.
No knowledge about that specific place.

Went by the Angel Fire RV park last year. It was under construction at that time but near completion. Angel Fire is at 8,500 ft. So it should be cool enough. We are flat land tourists and suffered altitude sickness.
The RV park looked like it was going to be awesome. Very well done and might well be worth $60 a night.

I agree check out Rio Chama RV Park Chama, New Mexico.
Elevation of 7800 feet and enjoy the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad.

Interesting, I drive through there 4 times a month and never noticed it. I'll have to watch for it this next time. The Lake area is just a bowl of nothing - not a tree standing, but its surrounded by forested hills, a cute little town, Vietnam Memorial, ski area, etc.
That place is really getting pushed through heavy marketing. My buddy bought some property there to build for pretty cheap about 5 years ago, then Erik Estrada started doing TV auctions for the lots at 10 times over what he just paid. Good for his value, but he said it was almost a little crooked.

I don't know anything about the RV Resort in Angel Fire, but we have stayed at Eagle Nest, NM in our RV a few times. We love the area and the Vietnam Memorial between Eagle Nest and Angel Fire is awesome, don't miss that one! Definitely take the Enchanted Circle drive up through Red River, you won't regret it.
We stayed at the Golden Eagle RV park there, folks there are super friendly!

If you are coming from Taos on Hwy 64, just before you arrive at Hwy 434 on the right side is Angel Fire RV Resort.
