Has anyone stayed at the municipal Anne Osborn Campground in Sault Saite-Marie Michigan? The is a private park listed in the city as well. We are going there in early June.
Thanks!

We stayed at that CG last July for four days. It is nothing fancy, with few trees but the sites were level and good size. There is a nice toilet/shower facility that has a lock code to access because there is a bar/convienence store across the street. The best part of the CG is that it is right on the St Mary's River and the really big lake freighters pass by very close and there are park benches to sit on and watch. A boat tour place is up the street and the locks are close. And, Canada is just on the other side of the river.

Thanks Bob. I have a couple of questions...Were you able to walk to town, and do they allow dogs?

Keith;

Yes, they allow dogs and there are lots of places to walk and exercise them. You cannot walk to town from this CG, but it is a quick ride up the street to the boat tours, the viewing area for the locks and town. The big bridge that crosses over into Canada is only several miles away.

My sticks and bricks is 22 miles from Aune-Osborn. It is a park that we always set up in when company comes to town. Depending on how long you'll be in town and if you have a toad, there is tons to see within 100 miles of here. To name a few, the Locks, one of the largest (if not the largest) waterfalls east of the Mississippi, Mackinac Island (pronounced Mackinaw) with all it's history, The Mackinac bridge, and if you cross to Canada, a day trip along the North shore of Lake Superior is some of the best scenery you will ever see.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a nice place to relax for a couple of days.

If you lilke trains you can cross to Canada and take the Algoma Central up through the bush of Ontario and back. The scenery is great and you can walk around to see the train going over the trestles and rivers. I used to enjoy going to the Antler's restaurant for the atmosphere but have been a little disappointed the last couple times. I would definitely take a tour of the Locks on the boat.

Antler's went down the tube, but has been purchased by new owners. I was told by a local resident that they have a good reputation and should be given a chance to return Antler's to the reputation of years ago.
