Any Advice on Parks in Atlanta Area?
We'll be heading to the Atlanta area in a couple of weeks to meet a friend and most of our normal sources for finding good parks are pretty thin on that area.
Any advice/recommendations?

We've stayed here a couple times and like it: TWIN LAKES RV PARK
It's not really "in" Atlanta, but it's about as close as I like to get. They have daily and monthly rates. It's mostly long-term camping but they usually have a few sites near the office for short-term stays.

Hey Rick, O
Like rewaters49 said there is not realy anyything in Atlanta! However I have stayed in Stone Mnt Park Campground( www.stonemountainpark.com) which is East of Atlanta & also there will be a few of us there from this site at a Rally 4/22-26/10! I also stayed at Sweetwater Vally RV Park (1-770-456-1917) which is west of Atlanta in Villa Rica, GA! There is more to do at Stone Mnt, but the othere one is closer to family I visit! Hope this helps some!

We stayed and stored at Atlanta South a couple of years ago. It was just ok for our needs. I75 south of the beltway kinda old but it worked and was convenient to the expressway.
I would be looking with an eye to whatever side of the city where my friend lived since the Atlanta beltway can get a bit "sporty" at times. (having lived in the DC area for many years, that was always a planning consideration.)

Hi Rick,
Consider Jones RV park. It is at exit 101 on I 85. $30/night for a 50 amp full hookup site. This is a place to park. There is no recreation or activities. We stay here when visiting the Atlanta area. It is an easy off/on I 85. Their contact info is 770-923-0911.

As stated earlier you need to know what area of town you need to be near. We always stay at Jones RV Park in Norcross. Not much to look at but the location is convenient for us...we have family that lives intown Atlanta and friends that live NE of the city. Check on their weekly rates also.
Don't worry...traffic will be a nightmare wherever you stay...we lived there for 30 years!

Thanks all! I think most of our activity will center around the aquarium so I'll check the location and draw from your suggestions.

Then Stn. Mtn. Will probably be your best bet. You can take Hwy 78 right into dntwn Atlanta.
Have fun!

Thanks again to all. We left Atlanta yesterday after three nights. We ended up staying at Stone Mountain and really loved it. Not all the attractions were open yet mid-week but we got to take the tram, see the great museum, and "Ride the Duck". Many of the sites were too tight for our 40;/4 slide rig and we ended up upgrading to a pull in site overlooking the lake with a wooden deck and very nice gas grill. It wasn't cheap at $54/night but we left happy. Thanks!
