Any Dry Camping Area in the Keys

I'm going to the Tampa Super Show from East Tx and if time allows I would like to swing down to the Keys for a few days. If no parks are available does any one know of a safe place that dry camping is allowed? I have a 43ft MH and will be hauling my scooter and would love to cruise to Key West on it.

Thanks Eric

Ummm, that location Homeless gave is barely 20 miles north of Key West.

Just how far into the keys were you hoping for?

Be very careful where you park. The Monroe county sheriff's Department is very vigilant about overnight parking except in a campground. Heavy tickets.

Im sorry i just did a quick google on the name and came up with a different place. So does Pirates Cove have an empty parking area to over night legally?

Blue Water Key RV is about 14 miles north of Key West, and Boyd's is just over the Bridge to Key West. Both are expensive (but hey it is Key West) and both fill up fast, so book right away. We book a year in advance at Boyd's and will be there in February.

I doen't believe there is any free camping in the keys. If you have never been there, then you may not know that the reason is that land is VERY limited in the keys, and the ecology is very fragile. The scarcity of good land makes any real estate-dependent product expensive. So the paid camping spots are expensive too. Don't go to the keys unless you are prepared to spend money.

We walked down the road to that area last year from the KOA and there is no way you would get a 43' MH there. I suggest Blue Water or El Mar for the closest location to Key West that will comfortably accommodate a 43'MH. Geiger key is also a good location, just a bit tighter fit. Boyd's will work, but you will be packed in.

We are camped right now at Naval Air Station Key West at the Sigsbee campground. We are in dry camping here and it is quite nice.

You must be active or retired military or DoD to use the facility.
