Any RV Campground near LA

Leaving Washington state on April 1st and going to LA area to see a daughter. We will be pulling our toad so do not have to be real close. She is in the Hollywood area. After we visit her we will be heading East to Phoenix Az. Anyone have any recommendations on RV Campgrounds.

There are quite a number of RV parks in the LA vicinity. Several in the Anaheim area, near Disneyland, and one that comes to mind is the East Shore RV Park at Lake Puddingstone in San Dimas, Ca.

If youre willing to drive across the city to visit there is the Pomona Fairplex KOA.

I've stayed there before. Had better rates and easier access then the state parks in the area.

Its right off the 10 and 57 next to the LA County fairgrounds (fairplex).

Quick note about ^^ puddingstone in the post above...
My brother who went to Cal Poly Pomona and knew lots of locals referred to Puddingstone as the bog of eternal stench.

Thanks for the input. I did a search of the a East Shore RV Resort though they received a lot of good reviews the one think that kept surfacing is the number of Skunks that roam the park after dark. My wife loves to walk after dark so this is a concern. I have never been to Southern California, so I am sure the traffic will be a little scary, but I will grin and bear it!

Our daughter also lives in Hollywood , we are currently staying in Newport dunes , about 45 min drive , we also looked at dockwieler 35mins , also Malibu .
Closest was Burbank , it's more of a trailer park but clean and well run ( owner on site )

The only place we liked around Phoenix was eagle view in fountain hills

We stayed at the Malibu RV Resort right on the Pacific Coast Highway. Very tight sites with NO room of awning but beautiful location.

Also stayed in Van Nuys at the Balboa RV Park (more of a trailer park).

Valencia Travel village off I-5 would be a good place to stay. Easier to get to Hollywood than (EASTSHORE)"Bonelli" or Fairplex.

Walnut RV in Northridge, between the 118 and the 101. There's another in Long Beach, Golden Shores I think. Also Dockweiler Beach RV Park (NOT the state park). Get as close as you can, LA traffic sucks. There isn't much in the Phoenix proper but there are several over 55 resorts in Surprise & Peoria that have rv sites. We usually stay at Leaf Verde in Buckeye. There's also one a little closer in to Phoenix, Cottonwood. Both of those are west of Phoenix.

Not knowing the area, but knowing LA's reputation for heavy traffic is the big concern. Thanks for all the suggestions I have looked most of these up in the past week of so, but was unable to make a decision...guess I just shake the dice. Is there a best time of the day to herd a 37 ft motorhome and toad through the city?

I second Valencia Travel Village. It will keep you out of traffic with your MH and give you a better shot on the 118 & 210 freeways to get to Phoenix .

The only thing you can do is avoid the peak traffic hours. I would try to keep it between 10:00 and 02:00.

I would go with Burbank if you want to reduce to daily driving to visit daughter .
Ring the manager and discuss size of Rv and toad etc , we found staff to be really helpful
