Apparently they are not the same thing. Red bugs are chiggers. These do not fly.

De-waxed and re-polished the front with "Rejex". Re-screened the bedroom windows and dining with 20 X 20 (then ran out of screening) ... new box of dryer sheets onboard ... WooHoo ... ready for bugs

Thanks for all the replies. I don't think we ever heard from anyone actually at BH but Curry Hammock is close by.

We plan on being at BH Tuesday to Saturday next week so I'll let everyone know how they are.

Rubenray.. you say you are heading that way...are you going to be at BH as well?

Worst case of no-see-ums we ever encountered was over at St. Joe Peninsula State park. They were only out at dawn and dusk for about an hour. We just stayed on the beach, in the RV, or in the car sightseeing during that time and avoided them.

Hopefully we'll get a good onshore breeze to keep them pushed back next week.

You are correct, they are very different from Redbugs or Chiggers. Those little buggers are in wooded areas and on plants. They burrow under your skin and itch like chicken pox or something! I remember getting them when I was a kid picking wild blackberries with my Grandmother. Seems like they always ended up in the most private of places on you .

Great !! ... we will be at Pennekamp on 15th and 16th, then Curry Hammock from 17th thru 23rd, then back to Pennekamp for 2 days. Predicted winds in Keys for next 10 days is around 10 - 15mph. Love Bugs are still a problem here in Vero Beach but it's getting better.

It should be a great week! We will be leaving on the 17th headed closer to Key West for a week.

We are on site #42. Site #17 is just down the row from us within sight actually.

Bring some bug repellant as the no-see-ums are out around dusk. Also if you are bothered by noise, bring ear plugs...the traffic on the bridge is loud and non stop...i mean all night long non stop. Even the quiet cars hit the expansion joints in the pavement. Maybe i'll get used to it by week's end! I'm sure a few days in the water here will negate some of that.

Interestingly, there is an "RV" here that you dont often see.. it looks like a European military vehicle. Huge diesel 4wheel drive that appears as if it could run the Dakar Rally! I'll have to see if i can find out the story on that one.

Clean but a little dated.

The rig you are talking about may be a Pennekamp right now. We will be here for 2 nights and noticed this rig right away.
