Anyone Camp at the Rose Parade this Year?

The DW and I were watching the news last night and they did a live telecast from and RV Camp at the Rose Bowl. We both said that we would like to do that next year. The question is how? Where can you park your RV in Pasadena? How do you get a spot at the Rose Bowl?

I looked on-line and found one company that sells you a spot for a large sum of money. Hoping someone can give me some info on less expensive places to park and also how to get a spot to watch the parade. Figured I better start planning this a year in advance the Rose Parade is a big draw for out of town folks like me.

Either get out your wallet and get in on the Rose Parade (FMCA I think) tour, or go out to a place like Travel Village in Valencia and drive in. It's an easy drive along the 210, probably 35 minutes at 2-3AM (Yep, plan on that.. ) Unless you know somebody along the route, the chance of finding a place to park along the route is next to impossible. The RV's you see along the route have likely planned this with help.

The year is 1962, and we were stationed at 29 Stumps. We drove to Pasadena the day before, found a parking place for the car and before midnight we were on the curb with our sleeping blankets, blankets, etc. By 3 a.m. it was starting to "crowd" up. Each hour thereafter it was more crowded, and by 8 a.m. it was shoulder to shoulder. I don't know how all that is handled in today present society, and laws.

It was a memorable experience. Of course, I was almost 21 years old and I could do anything back then.

Let us know what you find out, I would not mind going back as you are thinking of doing.
