We are KOA members and they are offering a free night to members if you camp 16 & 17 Sep 2011. Just wondering if anyone has camped at the KOA in Bandon/Port Orford, OR? No reviews for it on rvreviews website. We have a 37 ft Fleetwood Pace Arrow Vision and towing a Suzuki Sidekick. We have two DD (darling dogs) Westies accompanying us and possibly our two sons (19 and 20). The campground website shows that this KOA has quite a lot of amenities including a long/large hot tub, swimming pool, rec room with pool table, full hook-ups, shaded pull-thru spots, cable/wi-fi, etc. Curious as to how close it is to the ocean (walking distance?), cleanliness, ease of getting in and out of the park, and proximity to 101 highway (don't like freeway noise). Any feedback much appreciated. Happy Travels!

You may want to call the park to verify but mapquest shows the park to be 10 miles from Port Orford and 17 miles from Bandon basicly in the middle of a forest. A satellite view shows the park to be next to 101 but as far as noise I doubt that there is that much traffic to bother you that far South.

We stayed there last year. It's a fairly compact park, although pretty with all the trees around. Not a ton of width in most spaces, though. One slide you can probably get away with... slides on both sides... probably not. We did see a some rigs your size but I would strongly suggest calling ahead as there are a lot of sites that would probably present a issue.

It's right off 101 but we never had an issue with noise at all.

Not near the ocean at all. To be honest, we used it just to sleep. Each morning we'd unhook power and drive the 20 minutes or so south to Arizona State Beach, a day use park that at most ever had two other groups of people there. We'd spend the entire day at Arizona SB then drive back to the KOA as it got dark.

There's a decent seafood place in Port Orford right on 101; you can't miss it.

Steve

We stayed at Cape Blanco SP when we were there last year. really nice place. The only commercial CGs we used on that trip were Good Sam's, one just west of Roseburg, one in Heceta Beach and one in Llnicoln City. Stayed in five SPs, all wonderful.

Oregon has the best State Parks in the nation, IMO, though our home state of Washington is up there.
