I need help. I'm going out to see my parents w/the family in Apache Junction, AZ. They are at Superstition Sunrise which doesn't accept anything longer than 40'.

I cannot find a park that accepts anyone under 55 years old. I can't believe it.

Are there any recommendations for a highly rated place? The KOA looks pretty rough. Price is not important. TL and Woodall's are little help.

Thanks.

If you happen to be Thousand Trails members, there is one park listed on SacsTc's list that is offering reciprocal usage

Countryside RV
2701 S. Idaho
(480) 982-1537

Basic amenities at the park, but they might let you in IF you are TT members. Another place to check is with the AJ Chamber of Comerce. Good luck.

I was in the area and stayed at KOA couple of years ago, not too bad. Most people staying at the park at that time were from the midwest area and stayed for the season. I could only get water & Electric for three days and sewer for the last two days I was there.

Some RV parks will make an exception for short-term customers. A personal conversation may be successful.

One presumes your parents are over 55... Often if 1 person in the party is over the age limit, they let you in.

Yup, my parents actually live in superstition sunrise park. We would have worked out the 55 thing one way or another. However, max size allowed in is 40', no exceptions.

I found one park, Canyon Vista, that allows only so many under 55's in. They are already at the high number for Jan but, I'm a short timer and am sending an appeal letter to the manager.

BTW, every park keeps asking me how old my rig is.

While I am going to take my family to see my parents, I have a feeling that this is not a very engaging place to be.

We stayed at Carefree Manor RV Resort this fall. It is nothing fancy but the staff was nice and the park was clean. We stayed under Coast to Coast and their site says they accept up to 45 feet.

Thanks much for the reference to Carefree. However, they do not want kids in the park.

I'm having a hard time spending my money in this area.

Scott,

This place might be a little too far away from Apache Junction. It's off of I-17 just north of loop 101. It's kid and pet friendly though.

I sincerely appreciate the suggestions. I have followed up on each one. We have decided to change our plans and fly out for a week later on in Feb.

I won't be going as I have grown accustomed to having my own home on wheels when we travel. The DW and kids will be staying w/my parents. So someone under 55 with kids will still be in the park and using facilities.

BTW, the KOA, based on online pics, looks exactly like the desert park in the movie RV. If you don't believe me, I urge you to look it up.

Casino RV parks would take me but, they are distant and brag about having a secure area. What the!!! That sure ain't family camping.

Try Usery Mountain Regional Park. It's only about 5 miles from the Walmart on Apache Trail. It's addess is 3939 Usery Pass Road which is an extension of Ellsworth.
