Check out this post I started a while ago:
Apache Junction, AZ - I'm only 40 and not allowed to camp
As long as you are 55+ there are many nice places.

Bill,
We're at Canyon Vistas in Gold Canyon (part of AJ). Very nice, spacious sites, tons of things going on, or just kick back. A number of sites are vacant right now (have no idea if they're reserved)- you might give them a call: (480) 288-8844.

We are leaving Apache Junction AZ and the Meridian RV resort tomarrow for Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument , no Internet. This has been a very friendly resort, not as fancy as some, but all necessary amenities. As is true with most, longer stays are a cheaper daily rate. If you come to
AJ, don't miss the Organ Stop Pizza joint. Good Pizza at normal prices, and The Worlds Largest Theater Organ! Over 6,000 pipes, and a great show playing great music. Plus, the organ itself raises and lowers from a pit on the floor, after a light show! Yes, they have beer. And other libations. Not to be missed.
We are going tonight to the Barleens Dinner Theater, a Country Music extravaganza. And the Worlds Largest Saxophone! (We are into Worlds Largest.) Plus Al Hirts' trumpet. Minus Al. Wont be able to rate this show, but it is very popular here. More thrilling reports in the future.
