Arches N.P.

Going to add Arches to our Utah trip. Any suggestion on RV parks in that area.

Dead Horse Point State Park. Only 21 sites so you need to reserve early. Neat place!

Depends on what you want to do and whether you want to be in town or not.

Our favorite is staying right in Arches, Devils Garden CG. It is a short hike over to the Devils Garden trailhead and well as several trail heads right in the campground to Paisley Arch and Sand Arch.

Depending on how long you are in Moab you may want to spend a few days each in several places. Dead Horse Point SP and Canyonlands NP/Islands In The Sky are both very nice and right in the parks. In town you can go upscale and stay at Portal RV Resort. Or also in town and well located but a little tight is Canyonlands CG. There are also a number of BLM CG's along the Colorado River that are really nice; Big Bend and Gold Bar.

Moab is just one of the coolest places on earth so plan to spend some time there, make your reservations early, remember that July and Aug are real hot, and above all, have a great time.

Here is one of our favorite sites in Devils Garden CG... site # 21

If your looking for full hook ups...I'll second OK RV CG as a base. We weren't there very much, but at the end of the day, it sure was nice to suck up some air conditioning with that 50amp service. CG folks were friendly also...close to town - it's a good GC in the middle of 'Jeep Paradise'.

Good point... OP doesn't mention if they want hook-ups or not. We boondock quite a bit so failed to mention that you need to stay in town if you want to hook-up.

I checked out your profile and see your coach is a 2001. Unfortunately, the folks at Portals are RV snobs and don't allow coaches more that 10 yrs old no matter how nice they look. I recommend you check out Canyonlands Campground. It is perfectly located right in the center of Moab, you can walk to shops and restaurants and its a good base of operations.

Have fun...

Yeah, I'd sure like to do more boondocking...we saw lots of in park camping sites in some gorgeous settings. But, when we visited Moab, it was really hot so I didn't protest too much about the 50A service.

cbdeajr, have a great trip.

Is Canyonlands big rig friendly? It's hard to tell from the photos on their site.

We'll be stopping in Moab for a week or two in September and are really looking forward to some scenic back road exploration while there.
