We go the Franklin North Carolina in the Summer. Very nice weather and cool nights. Plus no bugs. The area is stunning with waterfalls galore. Every Saturday evening the town shuts down a main road and has free live music, called Pickin on the Square. Check out the Great Outdoor RV Resort. You can stay monthly too.

There are many places to escape the heat but hard to find 55+ places.

Our favorite areas would be southwestern Colorado, the Oregon coast and the Olympic Peninsula of Washington, McCall, Idaho, Stanley, Idaho, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.

Closer to you in Texas would be the White Mountains of Arizona - yes, Arizona has areas of cool temps in summer (Show Low/Pinetop); Flagstaff, AZ or Ruidoso, New Mexico, Red River, New Mexico; Eagle Nest, New Mexico

Having lived in Michigan I don't consider it to be overall cool. Yes, there will be some cool days but not consistent.

We've spent 3 winters in Maine north of Portland. The temps are close to perfect, but as far as a lot of activities for seniors..no. You'll have to amuse yourselves, but there's a lot to see and do if you get out. As mentioned in an earlier post, our favorite by far was San Diego.
