Is there any thing like snow birding for the summer to escape the heat. A nice cool place with activities like the winter locations in Fla, AZ and south Texas. A place where you can stay for several months like a 55+ retirement place. Any one heard of a place like that anywhere?

I've been to Vermont, on motorcycle trips, in the hottest of summer. No experience with any of these places, yet, but it's worth checking into in my opinion. Vermont, NH and upstate NY are really nice in the summer. Vermont (VT) RV Parks, RV Campgrounds, RV Resorts

With the current dollar exchange you would see a great bang for your buck on Canada.

We used to have a seasonal site (May thru Oct) at this campground Sunset View Campground , Hawkshaw, NB http://www.walfield.ca/. Fee was $1000.00 CAD , that would be about $650.USD ( $150/month) with full services.

The "sunset" coast of Michigan, otherwise knows as the western side of the state. Prevailing winds from the great lakes will keep temperatures at least 10 degrees cooler than inland temps. The cooling effects of the great lakes will extend around 10-15 miles inland. The sunsets are great if you are right on the lakeshore. Or travel into the UP which is cooler than the lower peninsula of Michigan.

Thanks for asking this question as we've been researching the same thing. While East TN is not as bad as Houston in the summer, it's bad enough to want to be somewhere else and we've been thinking about the high county of the Rockies.

They guy I bought my 5th wheel hitch from said they go to northern Michigan every summer. Claimed he only had to run the air conditioner one time last summer. They head up there in June or July and come back in September.

Anywhere along the Oregon coast. Temp rarely exceeds 70 during the hottest portions of the summer. I don't know if any "permanent" sites available, but I'm sure there are plenty. We like to base camp at Newport and then branch up or down the coast when the mood strikes us.

There are a host of places with weather that would meet your requirements. In fact the winter issue is that there are only a few places that are not routinely cold to frozen. The issue for you is to determine what you want to do and what direction you want to go in. Virtually all of Canada, Upstate NY, New England, Upper Michigan or the left coast of the lower Peninsula. I think most of the Rocky Mountains. The Pacific Northwest. Probably the easiest thing to do is check the tourist info and check the average weather for any place you find interesting. The touristy areas will have any level of amenities you are willing to consume. Most will have a clique of returnees as well as new visitors.

I am from Michigan, Kind of hard to go farter North in the contential US (Alaska yes, and that might be your answer) but not in the main 48. We see 100 degree days in Southern MI and plenty of heat in the upper-upper (lake superior shore) area.. now that said, lake Superior, which by the way contains more water than all the other great lakes COMBINED, makes one wonderful Heat Sink so it's not as bad as say Detroit in the middle of summer.. But as the climate changes.. Well. I can not predict.. I do recall being up there one year in July and having to wear coats.

~ Northern PA. State Parks: Cook Forest, Clear Creek, Kettle Creek, Hyner Run, Worlds End, Ole Bull.....

~ SE. PA. Laurel Hill State Park

Remember "elevation" is your friend to keep you cooling in the summer. To bad Florida don't have and mountains.
