I am going to Arkansas the first week of October. I have been looking at Petit Jean and Magazine Mountain. Never been there so I am looking for information on camping and things I shouldn't miss.

Thanks
Steve

Steve, WELCOME to iRV2!!

My daughter is in Mena and I've heard of Petit Jean as being nice but hopefully someone will be along with some first-hand information...

Glad to have you here and look forward to hearing about your experiences...

Get a Corp of Engs book (at camping World)and plan to stay at their parks. Northern Ark is full of Corp parks and they are all on the water and very nice. Last Sept we stayed at Toad Suck outside on Conway on the Ark river. Nice. Stayed at the corp park outside of Bentonville/Russleville, nice park. Stayed at another on Lake Norfork outside of Mountain Home. Little Rest near there has the best fried cat fish anywhere. Magazine Mt is very nice--kind of away from everything, but very cool in Sept. Ft Smith also has a nice corp park we stayed at on the River==good fishing at the damm. Norther Ark is a nice place to camp. Little Red River just north of Conway has super trout fishing at the damm. Also, a nice corp park there also. s/Toby

We have stayed at Qween Wilimena State Park.Great place in the mountains. This park is about 13 miles out of Mena ARK.To get to park you will travel on Talamena scenic drive.Very beatufil drive.Gets a little windy and cool on top of the mountain where the park is but the view makes it worth it.

Petti Jean is a beautiful place but don't miss out on the lake at Heber Springs. It is a small town but has a really nice lake with some good fishing.

NW Arkansas has a wealth of beautiful parks. We have stayed at Petit Jean and had a great time. Eureka Springs area is a neat place to go as well.

If you get down into Louisana, look for Hodges Gaardens. It is private gardens with a great campground and lake. Ir is on the western border near Lake Sam Rayburn in Texas.

Eastern Oklahoma has some nice state and Corp parks as well.

Oh, welcome to IRV2

My daughter's in Mena....I agree Queen Wilhemena is a nice park....I'll be in Mena for a night or two around the third week of October, but the new rig won't fit up there so I'll stay down the mountain somewhere..

I have been to MT Magazine and Petti Jean. Both great parks. Mt Mag only has about 18 sites, but is a great park. Get a site down by the lake at Petti Jean, and see all the sites. Devil Den is also a nice park.
