We were there (Mama Gertie's) this past weekend also. Site 45
We loved the campground. As you said the place was very nice and the people running the campground were equally nice. Even had usable wifi up on top.
Not sure how they get some of those coaches in the lower sites. Little spooky pulling out in the morning going down the hill and making the turns.

We love Mama Gertie's and have friends that have been to Campfire Lodgings and agree that the view sites are the ones to get.
Mama Gertie's has some wonderful view sites with decks and swings, but beware! It is VERY hot there in the afternoon in the summer and into Sept... it gets direct hot afternoon sun.
Not sure what you are camping in, but if not too large, there is a wonderful small campground near Brevard... ASh Grove Campground. We love it there...very peaceful and the owners are so nice and helpful. It is one of our favorites.
