Asheville or Hilton Head

Trying to decide where to vacation in August. Ashville or Hilton Head? also considering Outer Banks?
Any suggestions?

Asheviile is Great if your into Exploring and interested in the Biltmore mansion. Hilton Head - Dining and the Beach.

Outerbanks - QUIET and the beach. Not a lot around.

Never been to Ashville but Outer Banks and Hilton head are both nice. 2 campgrounds at Hilton Head each with different benefits. HH Motorcoach resort is located close to everything Hilton head has to offer. Bike to where ever you want to from there. Beautiful place also. No trailers though , just motor home class A,b and C. I forget the name of the other one but it is nice also but not convenient to stuff. It is on the water though and has a nice restaurant that has killer views of the sunsets. They also allow trailers if that's what you have.
Outer banks I have only stayed at camp Hatteras RV resort. Right on the water. Can stay on either the sound or ocean side. Beautiful sunsets on sound side but beach is on ocean side. When the weather is good, can't beat the outer banks! We go Labor Day every year and have been fortunate each time!!
Hope this has helped!

Used to play golf on Hilton Head in August because it was cheaper but really hot. Beautiful place to visit, but might be better some other time of the year. Asheville in August in my opinion is a much better idea.

Ashville would be my choice. For me, mountains always wins over the beach.

If you like the ocean and like to ride bicycles, Hilton Head! There is a bike trail all over the Island, and riding right on the beach is wonderful. Hilton Head Harbor and RV Resort and Marina
Ashville, Biltmore Mansion, and sight seeing..........
Outer Banks, great place to enjoy the ocean and eat out.......Ocean Waves Campground

Just a clarification...Hilton Head Motorcoach Resort is on the bike trails and close to the beach. Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort is not on the bike trail and about 5 miles to the beach. Both are nice resorts but we prefer the motorcoach resort.

The Carolina coast can be pretty hot in August. It can get hot in Asheville, but nothing like the coast, and you are less than an hour away from getting over 5000 feet of elevation from A'ville. It really depends on what kind of activities you like, but A'ville has excellent dining and access to lots of mountain trails.

Asheville

Altho haven't been to NC coast, have spent many years visiting the Asheville area. Asheville is central to lots of activities in Western NC including hiking, rafting, driving through Blue Ridge Parkway as well as great restaurants and breweries and wineries in Asheville and surrounding area. Lots of campgrounds to choose from. Weather can be warm during the day but generally cools down at night, especially at the higher elevations.
