ATL to Philly

Next big trip is on the board.
We are heading up to Philly in a few weeks to Timberlane RV park for about 5 days. I am sure our PA wi do OK.
As we are only in out second year of owner ship I am still coming to rearms that these units are designed to sit around.
I checked with my service guys and they said it should be Ok with where we are. I was ready to take it in and get all fluids changed, but was assured we will be fine until we get back.
We have never been to Philly but are looking forward to a few things WDA world Dog Championships ( one of my friends is on the US Team ) going to run the Rocky stairs, go to the Philly cheese steak corner.
We are also looking at going to NY for a day......
What Did we miss that is a must do ?
Anything you would have done to the coach to ready her for the trip?

Funny, we are leaving for Atlanta from New Jersey later this week !

New York for only one day.. tough one. If is is a clear day then the Empire State Building is a must. It opens at 8 AM so my guess is the line / tickets start before that. But only if is a clear day.

A circle line cruise is also interesting. Day or night.

The coach, check everything before you leave and before you head home.

What routs are you taking? I would go I-75, I-81 and the PA turnpike to Philly.

Safe travels.

Looks like 85,95 then 239? It will be 780 miles one way, longest trip to date with the coach

Please take a look at a map. 95 from Richmond to Philadelphia is not the greatest interstate, in fact it is a traffic nightmare.

I also recommend staying off I-95 thru the Washington - Baltimore complex. If the traffic doesn't upset you, the construction will. In Philly, try the Italian market (several blocks of unique shops for foods of varying descriptions).

We live in the southestern area of PA. I would also advise against I-95.
If you travel to PA via I-81 you can exit on US 30 and see Gettysburg and the Lancaster area. Valley Forge is on the way into Philly. Check on campgrounds as there are not any close to Center City (downtown Philly). There are many campgrounds in the Lancaster area.

While in Center City don't miss visiting Constitution Hall and the Liberty Bell. They do have a "Phlash" bus that does a loop around town and you can get off and on all day. If you want more info just leave me a PM.

Safe travels. Have a great trip.

Sorry, I just now see that you are staying at a campground in Jersey!

Have a fresh, warm Philly pretzel while there. They've got to be fresh or they're not good !

They are sold in lots of places including street vendors in the city. They are not at all like the pretzels you buy in a bag at the market.

The Philly pretzels are large and bread like with coarse salt lightly sprinkled on top. That's why they are only good if they are fresh and warm (just like fresh warm bread). They are available lots of places and even available in Wawa Gas Stations !
