Atlanta area RV parks

We are planning a trip that will take us through Atlanta and are looking for an RV park near there that won't take us far off our route toward Montgomery. Would prefer something on the south side of Atlanta. We have a 44' Motorhome, so getting in and out is always important.

Any suggestions, fellow RVer's?

We travel through Atlanta twice every year (once going north, once south). We have tried several times to stay near there but everywhere we have tried has been in a scary neighborhood or a really bad rv park. For overnights we stop at the Cartersville KOA. Not the best but suitable for overnight. There is also a state park near Cartersville that is ok but a bit further from the highway. Pine Mountain RV Resort or F. D. Roosevelt state park, near Columbus, are both nice.

Stone Mountain Park is beautiful. Many campers do a whole vacation there. We really enjoy our visits there.

Coming 75 south towards Atlanta there is the Jim Miller Park in Marietta. I camp there for Agility shows and noticed campers not entered spending a few days there. Most of the sites have full hook ups.

It would help to know which way you will be coming from to Atlanta.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks, guys. This is the most helpful site. We are having to change our plans and may not be going through Atlanta, at all.

We are taking our daughter-in-law and two grandchildren on their first RV trip from south Louisiana and originally planned to go to Colorado, but the fires ran us off. Lost a bunch of money on reservations, but decided to go another direction to Gulf Shores, St. Augustine, Savannah, then North Carolina and back through Atlanta. But the tropical storm that can't decide which way to go is ruining that plan.

So, we're having to rework the trip all over again.

Since you will be going up the east coast from St. Augustine to Savannah you should check out Jekyll Island. You will find a lot of activities for your grandchildren that are fun and educational. Depending on the time you visit the water park will keep the kids happy if it is open. There are also biking trails, beaches and numerous other activities.
