Awendaw SC, hwy 17 close to charelston.

Morning all, just wanted to let you in on a great campground in South Carolina right on the intra-coastal waterway. It's a small campground with only 18 sites, 14 are Rv sites the rest are tent sites. Each site is very large about 30 feet on both sides of you so you are not on top of anyone. All sites are easy to back in. Restrooms are nice, power and water service only , but there is a dump station. If you are towing a boat there is a huge boat ramp on The grounds. We have camped here twice and love the set up. $22.00 a night or if you have the senior pass $11.00 a night. The name is Buckhall recreation area in awendaw , SC. Plan ahead and make reservations since it a small campground it fills up fast. Below is a link that I hope will work for you, if not you can go to www.reserveameria.com

Rsanchez24,

Thanks for the info. I had seen the camping symbol on the state map but was unable to find anything about it online at the time. Nice to know its there as an option when passing thru. We have ended up at a PA park, Lake Aire, south of Charleston off 17 a few times.

Bob

Be sure to go eat at the Seewee. Restaurant while you are in Awendaw. Good food. And an interesting place as well.

We agree. For our first Christmas / New Years on the road when we went FT, we spent a month in Myrtle Beach. Did a day trip to Charleston and was told to be sure and stop there. We did and loved it. Now that we know about a close by CG we can stop again.
