There should be some Rope/line inside the pocket. Slide the awning out 6 “ and try to shove a bit of a dowel in the end to keep it from pulling out

Second what Wrktfsh says!! The plastic rod inside must have moved (?!!) or broke and fell out (!!?). Check the other end and see if it's sticking out the other end.

Once you get it back into the slot, roll it up and out a couple of times, making sure it does, then add a couple screws threw the rail at each end , then one threw the materials double seem area on each end or the roller......silicone spray will help with sliding the material...I used a couple Camco awning deflappers as handles on the material...you can cut a slot in that end cap, rather then removing it....most awnings today have a flap on the outer end, so you can tell if you're over extending the awning when deploying....

We had an awning tear at the ends where it wraps around the rope. It looks to me like that may be what happened to yours. My solution was to cut a 6" length of 2" wide webbing and screw the end to the metal track at the edge of the fabric. Then I sewed the web to the fabric using a sewing awl with whipping twine as the thread. The fix had lasted three years when we sold the trailer.

Go to a NAPA store and get several sample sizes of plastic tubing (not rubber) and see which one will fit into the slot and awning (1/4" or smaller).

1/4 turn on the awning tube will unload the tension, allowing you to move the awning back into the track.

Using maybe 12" of the tubing, slice the entry end at a 45 degree angle to allow you to work it into the fabric part. Once it's in as far as you can push, trim the excess.
'
Plan B would be to use a sheet metal screw and small washer and drill it through the fabric and into the slot. That will hold it for awhile.

Can't see it from your photo, but most of the time those slots are covered by the end caps, making Plan B a whole lot faster and easier on you

Expand the picture, you'll see that the fabric IS torn, and the plastic rod is still in the slot!! Quick fix is to pull fabric tight and screw into slot as others have stated. Also, I think the slot in end cap is all the way to outer edge, so no need to cut out. Next repair is removing the fabric completely, and having restitched and/or a new awning fabric!!

I used a couple plastic coffee stirrers inserted and snipped off. We'll see how it holds up.
