double d:

Although we winter down South, we are from South Dakota (near Mitchell in Estrn. SD) and are pretty familiar with the Hills (Black Hills) area.

First, it would be pretty helpful to know what kind of rig will you be in, and, will you have a separate vehicle (ie. towed car or tow truck, etc.) to use in touring around ?

Second, how much time can you spend in the Hills ?

Third, will you have any children along ?

Fourth, what kind of things do you enjoy doing ?

I stayed in Custer for a while last summer. Custer State Park may be one of my favorite places

How come this thread is titled "Beaver lake CG" when it is not mentioned in the thread?

RV Park Reviews :: Custer, South Dakota ( SD ) - RV Parks and Campground Reviews is a helpful site for reviews.

I've been researching the same area for a trip in late August / early September. Please post where you end up staying and whether you'd recommend it. We're in a MH with two adults and three dogs.

Thanks!

The Badlands / Black Hills

There is a good KOA in Interior, S.D. and to reach it you get to drive through the Badlands N.P. from I-90. There are pull-offs big enough for an RV with awesome views. From there you can drive Toad over to the Black Hills, or motor on up to a very nice KOA in Rapid City, and enjoy the Black Hills from there. We did this in Sept. 2012 and had a great time.

TN Blondie, first of all long time since the Rally don't you think. Kate and I stayed at Custer State Park and it's a great place. It's not to far to Crazy Horse or Mt. Rushmore. The wildlife circle tour by car is fun, and the scenic road is a good ride too. Lot to see in that area. Jim

Long long time. And we have a new (to us) toy. Our shakedown cruise went fine, except for losing two tires on the toad. Totally our fault. Have you guys done Yellowstone?

We haven't done Yellowstone but it is on our Bucket list for after we retire in a couple years. Glad to hear about your new ride, enjoy and have fun. Jim
