Belle Isle State Park Campground, Lancaster, Virginia

I was wondering if anyone has visited Belle Isle State Park Campground, Lancaster, Virginia?

I will be heading up that way next week for about a week. I've never stayed in this area before and was wondering if others may have some comments about that park (or other parks in that area), or any ideas on what to see or what to visit while I am up there.

We volunteer at Pocahontas State Park and have visited many others but not camped at Belle Island. They are all very nice parks but some will not accommodate large rigs. That would be my primary concern. Also not all have 50 amp hook ups and none I know of have full hook up. I am on my Droid, if you have better internet access check the Virginia State Park website. Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Thanks for your feedback.

This park has 50 amp, and will accommodate our rig size per the website. I have no issue with not having full hook ups, as they have two dump stations. We are comfortable with this arrangement, and our style is not "resort" type. We are more interested in beautiful nature than the parking lot type parks, so we are cool with that.

45 ft max RV length, electric only sites, 28 elec-water hookups, 20/30/50 amp, tables, grill, water, toilets, showers, dump, pet friendly extra rules.

Do you have any suggestions for places to visit or explore around this part of Virginia?

You are in the Northern Neck. So much to see. To your north on the neck is George Washington National Monument, and Stratford Hall. Go to northern neck.org. for everything. Take your time and enjoy all the beauty. Visit the Rappahannock River Oyster Company for a meal. Rapp River Oysters are small and sweet and just amazing
Just so you won't sound like a tourist its Tap-ah-han(like in hand)-ick and Rap-a-han-ick. Oh snd all good Virginia girls knoew its Rivah not river
The wine is grand too
Have fun

We have checked it out but never stayed there. It is a small campground but very nice. Surrounded by cornfields and near a river.
